Events

Events provide a platform to our students to showcase their talents and energies both at the academic as well as creative fronts. An event is nothing without the efforts of a sincere and diligent team working together. Our students and staff are full of innovative and progressive ideas. Hard work and preparedness go a long way and can be seen at the various events being held at The HDFC School and preparing our students to be leaders in the 21st century.

PHYSICS ACTIVITY

Date of event: August - 2021

Description :

The above activity was done in the class by the Grade 8 students to understand how pressure exerted by liquids can be used in lifting, crushing heavy objects with the smaller force applied as explained below.

WORKING PRINCIPLE: The science behind hydraulics is called Pascal~s principle. Essentially, because the liquid in the pipe is incompressible, the pressure must stay constant all the way through it, even when you~re pushing it hard at one end or the other. Now pressure is defined as the force acting per unit of area. So if we press down with a small force on a small area, at the narrow end of the tube on the left, there must be a large force acting upward on the larger area piston on the right to keep the pressure equal. That~s how the force becomes magnified.

APPLICATIONS OF HYDRAULIC PRESS: Hydraulic presses are commonly used for forging, clinching, molding, blanking, punching, deep drawing, and metal forming operations.
