An event is nothing without the efforts of a sincere and diligent team working together. Our students and staff are full of innovative and progressive ideas. Maths Activity

Description :

Grade 1 – Combinations - Students learnt to compose and decompose numbers.

We at The HDFC School believe in the fact that the only way to learn Math, is to do Math - hands on, with concrete activities.

Grade I students worked on combinations with colours, beans and even fireflies! Working up on combinations from 1 to 10 is fun when combined with objects to count, observe and jot down calculations. To build on the addition concept, children should know all the different ways to make (compose) or break apart (decompose) numbers.

Students need to acquire this skill using objects and pictures before recording each decomposition as an equation or drawing. Students worked on one target number at a time and slowly mastered all of the combinations for that number before moving on to the next number.
