GRADES III- V - FIELD TRIP TO NEHRU PLANETARIUM

Date of event: July - 2023

Description :

A Memorable Educational Trip: Nehru Planetarium, Bengaluru Grades III, IV & V

The Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru provides an immersive learning experience that sparks the curiosity of young minds. Our students from grades 3 to 5 embarked on a fascinating one-day trip to the Nehru Planetarium, where they discovered the wonders of the solar system, engaged with various scientific exhibits, and had an unforgettable educational adventure.

Upon arrival at the Nehru Planetarium, the students were encouraged to explore the numerous interactive exhibits available at the planetarium. One of the highlights was the Archimedes water pump, which demonstrated the principle of fluid displacement. The children were thrilled to see water being lifted by the pump using only the power of air pressure. This exhibit showcased the application of scientific principles in everyday life.

Another popular attraction was the whispering disc. Students eagerly lined up to experience the fascinating phenomenon of transmitting sound through solid surfaces. By whispering into one end of the disc, they discovered how the sound waves traveled along the curved surface and reached the other end with astonishing clarity. This hands-on experiment ignited their curiosity about the physics of sound propagation. Planetarium also had an engaging display demonstrating the principles of pulleys. Students were provided with the opportunity to experiment with different pulley arrangements and observe how they could make lifting objects easier. Through this exercise, the children not only gained a practical understanding of how pulleys function but also appreciated their significance in various industries and everyday life.

Students watched a captivating movie about the solar system, projected on a massive dome-shaped screen. This visual treat transported the students into outer space, allowing them to witness the beauty and vastness of our celestial neighborhood. The movie not only educated them about the planets but also introduced them to the concept of galaxies, stars, and other celestial phenomena.

The trip to the Nehru Planetarium was an extraordinary experience for the students. From the immersive movie on the solar system to the engaging interactive exhibits, the trip offered a perfect blend of entertainment and education. The students not only expanded their knowledge of astronomy but also gained hands-on experience with scientific principles through exhibits such as the Archimedes water pump, whispering disc, and pulleys.

The trip inspired the children to explore the wonders of the universe and fostered a lifelong interest in science and succeeded in making learning fun and memorable for young explorers.
