Dr. Atrayee Sengupta is a distinguished education leader with over 28 years of experience across boarding, day-cum-boarding, and day schools, and has worked with multiple curricula including ICSE/ISC, IGCSE, IB, and CBSE. Her professional journey spans some of India’s most respected institutions, including Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School, Almora; Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar; The Sanskaar Valley School, Bhopal; and Ashok Hall Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Kolkata.
A Ph.D. in Urban Geography, with advanced degrees in Education and Geography, Dr. Sengupta brings together academic rigour, warmth, vision, and emotional intelligence. Trained at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she is widely recognised for fostering progressive, inclusive, and inquiry-driven learning environments that nurture curiosity, creativity, and character.
Dr. Sengupta has demonstrated strong leadership in building supportive and inclusive school ecosystems, effectively managing student and parent engagement, overseeing residential pastoral operations, and designing intervention programmes that address both academic and emotional needs. Known for her collaborative and student-centred approach, she brings deep expertise in curriculum enhancement, differentiated instruction, classroom management, and policy and risk governance.
She is an active National Council Member of the Association of Indian Principals, a CBSE School Affiliation Inspection Committee Member, and a CBSE Resource Person.
Deeply committed to holistic education, Dr. Sengupta emphasises the emotional well-being and all-round development of every learner. She and her husband also run the Calvin Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless animals, reflecting her lifelong commitment to compassion and social responsibility.
